Today we hear a great deal of talk about unity
of the body. The word unity has become one of the buzzwords of modern Christianity. Is unity a good thing or a
bad thing? Psalms 133 states
Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers
dwell in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down upon the beard, upon the beard of Aaron, running
down on the collar of his robes! 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the LORD
has commanded the blessing, life for evermore.
In the scripture, the anointing
or the anointing oil is compared to brothers living together. Isaiah 10:27 says that the anointing shall break the yoke
of bondage. If we look through the scriptures, we will see a common thread of like-minded people. These are people who
obey all the precepts of God. The release of Gods power of the Holy Spirit can be seen in the mist of these like-minded
people. See the book of Acts for proof scripture (one accord).
The apostle Paul fights against false doctrine
creeping into the body all throughout his writings. See Galatians. See 1st and 2nd Timothy just to name a few.
Now lets read all of Ephesians 4
and specifically look at verses 11-15. Christians use this scripture for a lot of things, especially concerning the ministry
gifts, but seldom do they equate this scripture with doctrine. Read it for yourself and you will see exactly what it
takes to achieve Biblical unity. The following flow chart will show you the error of unity at any cost. Remember
light has no fellowship with darkness and a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers
